CLIENT: THE SEAGULL THEATRE, 2024-ongoing
In February 2024, I began
working on The Seagull Theatre’s Lantern project, based on the
paranormal investigations by Lowestoft’s Borderline Science
Investigation Group, founded in the 1970s. Lantern was the
title of their fanzine which they self-published between 1971 and
1982, featuring reports of their findings about hauntings, UFOs, sea
monsters and other strange phenomena.
Lantern was extremely stimulating
as it involved research through the fanzine’s archives, the
workshopping of scenes based on that research (left and above)
and, in August 2024, acting in a development sharing presentation at
The Seagull and The Fisher Theatre in Bungay.
At The Seagull, the Lantern company was honoured by the
attendance of Ivan Bunn, the local historian who edited the fanzine.
He took part in a Q and A after the presentation with the actors, and
director/producer Mark Finbow (above right).
