detailed and comprehensive guide to the late 1960s/early 1970s ITV spy
drama, starring Edward Woodward as the troubled state executioner
David Callan. It was produced with the full co-operation of the estate of
James Mitchell, the series’ inventor.
Successful promotions for
The Callan File have included a London launch and a regularly
updated Facebook page (above right), as well as an extract from
the book printed in the magazine Crime Scene (above left).
In November 2017, Mike Kenwood and I hosted the Callan at 50
event at the BFI, interviewing director Piers Haggard and Callan
creator James Mitchell's son Peter on-stage, following a screening of
the episode 'Suddenly - At Home'. A book signing took place afterwards
(left).
