Comprehensive study of the 1960s
fantasy thriller series filmed in the North Wales folly Portmeirion,
designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. Interviews include star and
creator Patrick McGoohan, writer Roger Parkes, stunt double Frank
Maher and the many local people who performed as extras in the series
(below, left).
In addition to writing and researching the book, I designed it
and carried out the picture research (with help from Jaz Wiseman). I
also commissioned the artist Mark Thomas to provide a special
illustration for the book’s introduction.
